Pour ice cold water into the mouthpiece. Fill until it reaches just below the ice catcher and below the bowl. This will keep the water from spilling out.
Insert ice cubes into mouthpieces. If your cubes are too big, run cold water on them to reduce them in size so they fit.
Insert the downstem first.
Insert a metal screen into the bowl.
Pack your herbs into the bowl before you insert the bowl back into the downstem.
Put your mouth on the mouthpiece. Create a tight seal by putting your lips inside.
Ignite the herbs with a lighter or wick as you inhale slowly and deeply.
Smoke will enter the base and then rise up out of the water and continue past the ice catcher until it enters your mouth.
Move the flame away from the herbs and continue to inhale slowly until you almost are out of breath.
Remove your mouth and inhale fresh air and then hold your breath.
Immediately put your hand or other flat object on top of the mouthpiece to prevent the smoke from leaving the tube.
Exhale slowly. Relax and sip a cold beverage if you like.
When you are ready to inhale again, remove your hand or object off the mouthpiece and inhale the smoke remaining in the tube. If there is no smoke in the tube then repeat from Step 7.
