Cut your herbs down to about 1/2" or about the size of a dime. If your herbs are attached to stems, remove the stems and set aside.
Place the cut herbs into the section with the blades, spikes, or "teeth".
Place the cover back on top and turn the cover slowly clockwise or counterclockwise.
Make two complete turns and remove the cover. If your herb is still in chunks, place the cover back on and make two more turns.
Repeat step 5 until your herb is broken up into pieces that are like oatmeal flakes or rice crisp cereal. You do not want to grind your herbs to look like ground coffee.
If your grinder has four sections, the ground herbs will fall thru the holes and collect in the third section. Separate the third section from the second section and dump out your grindings onto a clean flat surface. If you only have two sections, remove the cover and dump out your grindings.
If you have a fourth section with a mesh screen, that section collects all the pollen that has fallen off your herbs during the grinding process. Over a period of time, you can scrape out all the pollen from that section and keep it for a variety of uses. Keep in mind that pollen is very concentrated herb and is very potent. A little goes a long way!
